Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
There's been much to admire about the spirit of the last couple of performances, which gives some hope for this game. But make no mistake, Sevilla are a tidy outfit and will be a very tough opponent. They should also have one or two injured stars available again, but on the other hand, I'm sure I read somewhere that Ocampos is suspended for this one because of the yellow card he picked up in the first leg.

As for us, if the injuries to Antonio and Cresswell prevent them from playing then we will probably start with the side that finished against Villa. But my understanding from reading around is that Cresswell is ok, Antonio has a chance but Bowen is out. Vlasic should also be available but I would expect Benrahma to keep his place.

Areola
Johnson Dawson Zouma Cresswell
Soucek Rice
Fornals Lanzini Benrahma
Antonio

Same team as Mex

But if Antonio is struggling I’d play Vlasic there.

I still think Vlasic needs to play through the middle and he’ll protect the ball and hold it up, allowing us to get up the pitch.

Then Yarmalenko on 60 mins if we need a goal.

Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
Well Moyes said yesterday that Bowen won't be available and that both Cresswell and Antonio had not trained properly since Sunday, but would have fitness tests today to see if they could play. I guess they will both want to and will do their best to pass the tests.
I'll go for the same as Exile, but hope Fabianski starts.

Fabianski
Johnson Dawson Zouma Cresswell
Soucek Rice
Fornals Lanzini Benrahma
Antonio

Fonz - agreed. Also worth mentioning that if we had a back three of Dawson, Zouma and Diop, the thought of them going up for corners and set-pieces alongside Soucek, Rice and Antonio would be pretty lethal and would scare the bejesus out of Sevilla.

We have previously played well playing with 3 cb's and two wing backs. Both fredricks and masuaku have pace which we are lacking upfront without Bowen and Antonio.

Also having 3 cbs gives rice and soucek a bit more freedom to push forward.

I don't think we will start that but if we do I don't think its a bad line up...

If all turns pear shaped bring Vlasic on for Lanzini and half fit Antonio on last 30 mins. Vlasic in his proper position central is something we are yet to see. May be the same result with him not contributing much but got to be worth a try at some point and especially if we go a goal down.

Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
If Antonio is fit for the bench the surely he must start?

There's no point to bringing him on with 30 minutes to play and he breaks down... Rather start him and replace him than have to replace Yarmolenko with him and then replace him with ??? Randolph up front???

Looks set to be same team that started against Villa.

Bowen looks unlikely but you never know.

If Oko-Flex gets selected ahead of Yarmo I’m gonna lose my shit.

Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
Why would we play Masuaku and 3 cbs when we need to win the game given we’re 1-0 down. And given the fact that Fredericks and Johnson at full back in a back 4 is much more suited to the way that we play?
Masuaku starting is actually more depressing that not having Cress, Antonio and Bowen. Fucking suicide

Oko was rumoured to playing last week more bollocks then

Not too thrilled at the prospect of Arthur either.
There was me trying to get used to the idea of Fredericks and Yarmo starting.

In Moyes we er trust

Fab
Dawson / Diop / Zouma
Fredericks / Masuaku
Rice / Soucek
Lanzini / Yarmo / Benrahma
3-4-3 or 5-4-1 with forward thrust...
maybe... perhaps... possibly...
presuming Cress / Antonio / Bowen doubtful...

Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
According to C & H Masuaku and Okoflex might play.

Well there was me thinking Okoflex wasn't registered.

Who makes these fucking stories up.

Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
If Antonio can't go, then I'd put Yarmolenko up front in the position similar to where he's much more successful for country than club. Best realistic option for us. The player i saw in Euro 2020 is a far better asset than the one we've had in recent times.

Less worry about his speed than if he's out wide and more focus on his quick feet, clever passing and movement and decent ability in the air. We just can't sit back and isolate him too much and expect him to chase down the long/hopeful ball like Antonio will.

Bloody disappointing that we are looking patchwork for the biggest game of the season, with three very important players looking like they may not make it. If Vlasic isn't fit we have absolutely nothing on the bench.

Ex-whuemployee saying Cresswell not serious and likely to play. Mickey should play a part also, maybe to start or from bench?

Some are now saying that Cresswell is out and Masuaku is in. Is there anyone that can keep an eye on daveyg? Suicide watch etc.

But as a victim of the system. Not because of something the has done, like kicking a cat or invading Ukraine.

Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
Yeah that sounds about right to me... although to be pedantic it does make him ineligible

legrandefromage 8:16 Tue Mar 15
Re: Team for Sevilla 2nd leg.
I'm guessing then that it is not Oko-Flex personally that is ineligible but that he cannot be included because West Ham do not meet certain squad eligibility rules. I think we have only a 23 man List A squad (out of maximum 25 allowed) as it is reduced due to not enough locally trained players. And he can't be included as a young List B player because he hasn't been with the club for 2 years.
